In the spotlight this week, the Micro-Folie’s project!
Here is the program for the week :
The Micro-Folie, a project led by the Ministry of Culture in France and coordinated by La Villette in Paris, is based around the concept of a Digital Museum, developed in collaboration with 12 founding national cultural establishments. The twelve founding establishments are: the Center Pompidou, the Palace of Versailles, the Cité de la Musique – Philharmonie de Paris, the Festival d’Avignon, the Institut du monde arabe, the Louvre, the Musée national Picasso-Paris, the museum d’Orsay, the Quai Branly-Jacques Chirac Museum, the Paris National Opera, the Réunion des Musées Nationaux – Grand Palais, Universcience and La Villette.
The project is designed to work with many modular activities that can evolve with the public it hosts. Its concept includes the Digital Museum, a FabLab, a virtual reality space, a stage, a library / toy library or even a communal area. The objective is to create a space that can host friendly activities for all.
“Micro-Folie” is a democratization and cultural decentralization project led by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication and the Parc de la Villette in Paris. It was presented in 2017, and Myanmar was the first country to bring Micro-Folie outside of France in November of the same year. The project was presented to the Myanmar public during the first edition of the Pix’Art festival dedicated to digital cultures which took place at the French Institute. A collection of numerous masterpieces from France’s most famous museums was presented in the form of a digital museum and virtual reality experiences. Building on the success of this edition, La Villette and the French Institute of Myanmar have decided to jointly develop the project of a lasting Micro-Folie in Myanmar.
Inaugurated on July 17, 2019, Micro-Folie therefore returned in the form of a traveling digital museum located in the garden of the Yangon Innovation Center. Open to the public since November 2019, Micro-Folie Yangon has hosted many digital events to allow young people to discover the possibilities offered by digital creation. Due to the Covid19 pandemic, Micro-Folie Rangoun had to temporarily close in March 2020.
The Micro-Folie network is launching its first international collection in partnership with the Association of European Royal Residences. Bringing together 20 residences from 12 different countries, the collection offers a dive into the history of the most prestigious castle-museums in Europe. Through dozens of works and objects, rediscover the history of Europe and its rulers, from Louis XIV to Sissi, from the kings of Spain to the Russian tsars.
