The Fonds Équipe France (FEF) Project for Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs) in Myanmar is a strategic initiative designed to strengthen the country’s creative ecosystem and empower its young talents. With a total budget of €770,000 over two years, the project marks a new scale of action. It moves beyond isolated support to deliver transformative and sustainable impact across the creative economy.

Running from July 2025 to December 2026, this 18-month programme aims to enhance the economic resilience of vulnerable populations, particularly youth and women, by providing access to quality opportunities, creative training, and entrepreneurship support. By combining local expertise with French know-how, the project seeks to unlock the potential of Myanmar’s creative talents.

The project concentrates on three dynamic and youth-driven sectors with strong growth potential:

Fashion
E-Sports and Video Games
Webtoon and Digital Storytelling

Through these entry points, the initiative also aims to launch Myanmar’s first comprehensive reflection on the future of its cultural and creative industries as a whole.

The objective is to structure and professionalise Myanmar’s creative ecosystem, particularly in the fashion, webtoon, and e-sports sectors.

This will be achieved through incubation, mentoring, capacity building, and financial support, ultimately helping creative entrepreneurs scale their work in a sustainable manner.

The project is built around three complementary components, each designed to create a complete cycle of action, from strategy and skills development to entrepreneurship.

The aim is to transform a fragmented and informal landscape into a cohesive and recognised creative sector. This includes a comprehensive mapping of stakeholders, data collection, and the publication of a 100-page White Paper, which will serve as a strategic roadmap for the industry’s development.

A 12-month incubation and mentoring programme will empower 12 creative entrepreneurs with tailored support. The six most promising projects will receive seed funding to grow their ventures. Success stories and testimonials will highlight the real-world impact of this support.

To strengthen creative and technical capacities, participants will access specialised training and residencies in partnership with leading institutions such as the French Fashion Institute and the Webtoon Academy. These collaborations will promote co-creation and knowledge exchange between French and Myanmar artists.

The FEF-CCI Myanmar project aims to reach 4,354 direct beneficiaries, including:

This strong focus on inclusion and empowerment underscores the project’s contribution to gender equality, youth employment, and sustainable creative growth. By professionalising high-potential digital and cultural sectors, the FEF Project positions itself as a pioneering model of cultural diplomacy. It combines vision, innovation, and pragmatism to help shape Myanmar’s creative future. A dedicated steering committee, including members from civil society and the private sector, will guide the project’s implementation and ensure broad participation.
